Angela Ayoub Shunnarah, LICSW, LMSW, is a licensed clinical social worker who specializes in the treatment of anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorders (OCD) in children, adolescents, and adults. She is licensed to practice in Iowa, Alabama, Florida, and her home state of Michigan.
For more than 12 years, Angela has been dedicated to helping individuals and families navigate the challenges of anxiety and OCD. She has received extensive, specialized training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), with a particular focus on exposure-based treatments, and is also trained in SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions), a parent-based intervention for childhood anxiety and OCD. Angela is committed to working alongside clients and their families to provide compassionate, evidence-based care, while staying current with the latest research and best practices to ensure the highest quality treatment.
In addition to her clinical work, Angela is a founding member and secretary of OCD Alabama, a regional affiliate of the International OCD Foundation. She also serves as Anxiety & OCD Treatment Service's outreach and marketing coordinator, building connections with schools, professionals, and the wider community.
Angela earned both her Bachelor of Science (2011) and Master of Social Work (2012) degrees from the University of Michigan. During her MSW program, she completed her clinical training in the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Department at the University of Michigan Health System and later completed a two-year post-graduate fellowship at the Mary A. Rackham Institute’s University Center for the Child and Family.
She went on to work as a clinical therapist at Michigan Medicine’s Child and Adolescent Anxiety Clinic, where she also served as a therapist in an OCD clinical trial. Before relocating to Alabama in 2019, Angela spent three years in private practice at the Anxiety & OCD Treatment Center of Ann Arbor.
