Jamie Dunn is a licensed counselor with over two decades of experience in the mental health field. She specializes in treating a wide range of anxiety-related disorders, including obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, social anxiety, specific phobias, generalized anxiety disorder, health anxiety, and perfectionism. Jamie also works with individuals dealing with body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs), body dysmorphic disorder, and depression. Over the years, she has successfully supported hundreds of clients in diverse settings, often addressing complex, co-occurring conditions and life transitions.
Jamie is a founding member and current President of OCD Iowa, a nonprofit organization focused on advocacy and outreach for OCD and related disorders throughout Iowa. Her commitment to evidence-based care began in 2004 at Rogers Behavioral Health in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, where she developed a strong foundation in specialized clinical interventions. She remains dedicated to ongoing professional development through regular training and continuing education.
Her therapeutic style is collaborative and personalized aiming to meet each individual where they are. Jamie uses a blend of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Habit Reversal Training, Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She helps clients break down complex issues into manageable steps, building confidence and resilience in the face of uncertainty. Her objective is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can take meaningful risks, cultivate self-trust, and live more authentically in alignment with their personal goals and values. Jamie strives to provide culturally responsive care and is affirming of LGBTQ+ identities as well as neurodiverse individuals.
Jamie holds a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee. Her clinical background includes working in the OCD Residential and Partial Hospitalization programs at Rogers Behavioral Health and interning at the Anxiety Disorders Foundation of Wisconsin. She has also provided in-home therapy to individuals on the autism spectrum and contributed to one of the first mother-baby perinatal mood disorder programs at Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Since 2015, Jamie has dedicated her private practice to supporting individuals dealing with depression and anxiety-related disorders. During her time in Ames, she worked extensively with student-athletes at Iowa State University, helping them enhance performance by managing anxiety and performance related challenges.
Outside of her professional life, Jamie enjoys reading, spending time with her family and pets, exploring the outdoors, and traveling.
She is licensed to practice in Iowa and Wisconsin, and is an approved telehealth provider for clients in Vermont and Florida.
